Exclusive Interview: Malik Rehan, Mr. Goa 2019

Malik Rehan from Taleigoa was elected the most handsome man in the Indian state of Goa at the Mr. Goa 2019 competition. A student of Commerce and Accountancy at the SS Dempo College, this 21 year-old very charming Indian gentleman stands 6 ft. and 2 inches tall and has black hair and black eyes. He is also an athlete and fitness enthusiast. Along with winning the Mr. Goa 2019 title, he also won direct entry to the final show of India’s biggest annual pageant for men – Rubaru Mr. India. The pageant is scheduled to take place in coming months. In this exclusive interview, Malik talks about his journey to the Mr. Goa 2019 title and what more can be expected from him at the upcoming edition of Rubaru Mr. India contest.

Q. First of all, many congratulations on winning the Mr. Goa 2019 contest and making it to the finals of the upcoming edition of Rubaru Mr. India contest. How do you feel about it?  
Malik Rehan: Thank you so much for these lovely wishes. I feel so honored and blessed that I won Mr. Goa 2019 contest and I would like to thank each and every person who supported me. Winning the Mr. Goa contest has taken me one step closer to the prestigious title of Rubaru Mr. India. I am looking forward to deliver my best and make the most out of the wonderful experience that this new journey would offer.

Q. What are the qualities that you believe set you apart and helped you during the Mr. Goa 2019 contest?
Malik Rehan: Confidence, determination and hard work. Winning Mr. Goa 2019 contest taught me that great title and success bring even greater responsibilities and expectations with them. In order to live up to those expectations and fulfil the responsibilities, one needs to work hard. One needs to be confident and determined enough to deal with criticism that might come along and utilize it in a positive way.

Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to deal with criticism?  
Malik Rehan: I believe confronting criticism with a positive attitude is the best way to deal with it. If channelized in a correct way, even criticism can make one grow be it professionally or personally.

Q. When you look back in time, what do you believe has been your greatest lesson?
Malik Rehan: It is hard to pick one as life is all about making mistakes, learning from them and growing. For me, I have learnt everything from the experiences – good or bad – my life has offered. I cannot pick one as every lesson that I have learnt in my life has made me what I am today. If I would have missed out on any one of them then I would not have been at the place where I am today.

Q. Who or what has been your greatest inspiration in life?
Malik Rehan: I take inspiration from every little thing that life offers. It is the way I managed to move ahead and it is the way I live my life. I always try to focus on positive points of every individual and try to learn from them. The experiences that they had in life and the way they dealt with their situations help me realize what I can do if any such situation comes across my way. If I had to say it in short then I would say one does not need any particular thing or any particular role model to get inspired, one can get inspired even from the tiniest thing that one’s life has offered.

Q. What are your hobbies and areas of interests?
Malik Rehan:  Sports and music. I am more into sports like volleyball, football and cricket. Other than that I love listening to music. It acts like a stressbuster.
