Indian model, Suman Rao won 2nd Runner-up title at Miss World 2019 competition held in London

Indian model, Suman Rao from Rajasthan was crowned 2nd Runner-up at recently concluded Miss World competition. She was crowned by Miss World 2018, Vanessa Ponce De Leon from Mexico, at the world finale of Miss World 2019 competition held on December 14, 2019 at ExCeL Arena in London, UK. She is the first Indian woman to win the second runner-up title at Miss World beauty pageant. Apart from securing the third position at the said international pageant, Suman was also crowned Miss World Asia 2019. Miss World Asia is the title awarded by the Miss World Organization to the best performing Asian candidate throughout the Miss World festival.

Suman Rao hails from Idana village, near Udaipur, Rajasthan. She is 21 years old and is a student of Chartered Accountancy (CA) at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. At the Miss World 2019 pageant, she placed in numerous sub-competitions. She was also the winner of Miss World 2019 – Head to Head challenge. Along with this, she placed third in the Top Model round of the pageant.

Miss World is an annual international beauty contest. It is the biggest and oldest running international beauty pageant. The pageant is run by Miss World Organization headed by entrepreneur, social activist, philanthropist, charity worker, businessman and former model, Julia Morley. The pageant is regarded as the most prestigious international beauty pageant in the world. The Miss World beauty pageant receives the highest number of candidates out of all the other international beauty pageants in the world, making it the biggest and most anticipated beauty pageant. Every more than 110 candidates from different parts of the world attend this international beauty and fashion festival.

This year’s Miss World competition began in the mid of November. 112 most beautiful and talented women from different parts of the world travelled to London to take part in this prestigious international event. They were judged on various parameters like confidence, personality, runway skills, communication skills, on and off stage presentation, on and off camera presentation, beauty, grace, poise and many more. The candidates took part in different segments of the pageant that included the head to head challenge, talent competition, individual interviews, sports competition, top model round and beauty with a purpose presentation round. The final judgement was made by taking under consideration the performances of the candidates during all these preliminary events and the overall performance of each candidate during and prior to the finale.
