Meet Parvi Dhaulakhandi, the teenaged beauty queen that has won 10 gold medals in athletics

When we hear the phrase ‘beauty queen’ then we often think about an elegant and graceful woman, in an exquisite outfit, wearing a scintillating crown. However, over the years, the image of beauty queen has drastically changed, and women from all walks of life have shown the world that beauty pageant winners are much more than beautiful faces with glittering crowns. The year 2021 witnessed the advent of a highly accomplished and empowered young woman that not only gave a new meaning to the word ‘beauty queen’ but also defied and broke the long prevailing misconceptions and stereotypes associated with beauty pageant winners. We are talking about the young woman from Gwalior who won the 2021 Rubaru Miss India Elite competition, Parvi Dhaulakhandi.

A multifaceted personality, this 18-year-old high school student has achieved several milestones in every field she entered – be it linguistics, be it academics, be it pageantry, or be it sports. She has won more than 10 gold medals in sports under her possession. She won these gold medals in different athletic events including Javelin throw, 100m-800m and Shotput among others. She is also a national level Floorball player and has also represented her state at SGFI. Her achievements and accomplishments have also been acknowledged and rewarded by the Government of India.

Parvi says her coach Mr. Pankaj Tiware, the General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Association, has played a significant role in all her accomplishments in sports. While speaking about her achievements, she mentioned, “I do not want to confine myself to one particular sector. Such practices often lead to creation of comfort zones that, in longer, run becomes a restriction to an individual’s true potential. I want to keep on exploring. Sports teach various things to an individual, like team work, discipline and patience. These traits help a person reach much farther places in life.”

Parvi is one of the youngest beauty pageant winners of Indian origin. She was crowned Rubaru Miss Face of Beauty International India 2021 on August 29, 2021 in New Delhi, and will represent India at the upcoming edition of the biggest international beauty championship based on New Zealand – Face of Beauty International.
