Q. Miss Supermodel Worldwide began in 2018 and this year the event will celebrate its third anniversary. What would you like to say about that?
Sandeep Kumar:
It does feel great. The event will celebrate its third edition this year and we are planning to make it better. We always try to make the event better with every passing year, be it Miss Supermodel Worldwide or any other Rubaru Group’s event like Mr. India or Miss India Elite. This is what makes us happy and this is how we can make our candidates, our partners and our viewers happy. We began in 2018 and with every passing year, we are gaining more experience. It helps us improve the production of the event. This year we will surely try to make the event bigger and better from the previous ones.

Q. Last year’s show was a huge success. What can we expect from this year’s edition?
Sandeep Kumar:
Our main focus this year is to enhance the production value of the show. We have had two amazing shows in last two years and this year we want to make the event even bigger, be it in terms of the preliminary competitions or the pre-pageant activities or the closing ceremony. We do not want our candidates to feel like they are in India just to compete for the title and go back home. We want our candidates to enjoy their time in India and take back happy memories. Winning or losing is part of every competition, the thing that matters more than this is the journey and how you make the most out of it. It is a competition and the competition is going to be very difficult this time as we have such strong candidates competing this year, but in the midst of all this the candidates should not get pressurised and forget to enjoy their stay. We will also travel to different cities in India for various fashion and social events, so I just want our candidates to have a good time here in India and remember the finale is not the end of this journey, rather, it is the beginning of a more beautiful journey that will take you places and make you a better person.

Q. What parameters are going to be there this year on basis of which the new winner will get elected?
Sandeep Kumar:
There are going to be different preliminary competitions during the event which will decide who would get advanced to the final set during the grand finale. The candidates will get judged on various qualities like confidence, personality, runway skills, elegance, communication skills, presentation and many more. When we say communication skills, it does not mean the candidate needs to be fluent in one particular language rather we want to see how well she can communicate her thoughts with other. Similarly, when we talk about elegance and presentation, we want our candidates to be what they really are rather than trying to become someone they believe people might like. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and what we want from our titleholder is to become a universal presence and not just a stereotypical representation of a beauty queen or a model that has existed in past. The time has changed and I believe we should also change our mind set and perspective with it.

Q. You have been named the ‘Best Beauty Pageant Director’ multiple times. How does that feel?
Sandeep Kumar:
I feel extremely honoured and humbled that people liked my work and appreciated it. It does feel great when you get rewarded for the work that you have done. I would like to extend my humblest gratitude to the institutions and organizations who believed in me and considered me worthy enough for this honour. Also, I would like to thank all the people who supported me in this journey and always had my back. Lastly, to the almighty, thanks a lot for giving me the strength to forge ahead and achieve my goals.

Q. What qualities are you looking for in the new Miss Supermodel Worldwide titleholder?
Sandeep Kumar:
One needs to have the personality that is not a replica of someone else. The winner must know how to embrace her individuality. We are not looking for candidates who are clones of other beauty queens or models. We are looking for someone who can inspire others and get inspired from others. Taking inspiration from someone and cloning someone are two completely different things. There is a fine line between the two. If you have been inspired by someone then try to be like her, do not try to become a clone of that person. A winner can never be a copy of someone. That’s what we are looking for in our next titleholder – she must know how to confidently embrace her individuality. Our two former winners have perfectly fit into this mould.

Q. What is that one piece of advice you would like to share with the candidates who would come to India to vie for the title of Miss Supermodel Worldwide this year?
Sandeep Kumar:
Always be yourself. A fake personality might help you win an award but it would never give you inner satisfaction. You are not here to please anybody. You are here for yourself so be yourself. You need not to agree with everyone. Have an opinion of your own and always say what you feel like. Be confident not arrogant, be well-spoken not out-spoken, be bold not aggressive, be smart not shrewd, lastly, be an original not a clone.

Q. Lastly, any message for the readers.
Sandeep Kumar:
A big thanks to all those people who read the interview and supported me. Please keep supporting us and loving us the way you have done so far. You guys are our real backbone. Thank you so much.
